I use the friction zone in parking lot and slow speed situations.

Best wishes....Tim(HT)

All the time. On a congested, stop and go highway commute, I am able to keep my feet on the pegs rather than having to duck walk all the time.

In my earlier post talking about a lot of kids learning to ride on dirt bikes. My first bike was a '76 Yamaha Trials 80. Wish I still had it. Trials bikes back then actually looked like motorcycles. Trials bikes these days are definitely sports specific.

YES THEY ARE!...I watched a rider take her trials...what-ever up 3 flights of stairs w/ a landing mid-point on each, turn around, and come back down without a foot on the ground once!!

WOW! that impressed the he!! out of me!

Best wishes....Tim(HT)

I REALLY enjoy watchin' those "I'm too cool to learn sumpthin" fellers attempt a u-turn.
The trick is not getting lost in the first place so there is no need to turn around.

This whole "friction zone" thing with a video for instruction? WTF?

I guess maybe for beginners, but if when you learned how to drive a stick shift when you were a little kid, you likely have been doing that your entire life, but nobody told you there was a name for it.

I suppose, most kids today learn to drive an automatic so shifting at first seems foriegn.

Hasn't seemed to effect my clutch yet. I practice slow speed maneuvers almost every time I go out for a ride and have 20,000 miles on the bike and haven't had any problems with the clutch. It's the funniest part of the ride.
