At 55 I'm starting to think more about saving money than spending it, but I couldn't put off getting a big Harley any longer, if I still wanted to be 'young' enough to enjoy it.

My credit is GONE, so I have paid cash every time.

Usually cash. If I finance any vehicle it'll be with least 50-60% down and pay off the rest within the year. Can't stand being in debt.

I just bought a new EG Ultra, financed a little over $14K. I could have paid cash but at 3.75 percent at the credit union I decided to keep the cash in hand. If the wife's vans transmission takes a dump, or the water heater or furnace craps out I don't think I could get money at that rate to fix/replace them. There are a lot of people that will argue that paying cash is the only way to go, especially for something like a motorcycle. Their reasons are valid and I won't argue them, but for me personally the small amount of interest I'll end up paying isn't that big a deal.

Cheers,
Paul in Colorado

Not really; some of us just buy really cheap. The 04 RK this year was one of the very few times I went over 4 grand for an initial purchase.

I bought my '07 in September. I had the cash, but I knew I was going to do alot of mods. So I opted to pay 50% cash and finance the other 50%. Use my cash on the mods I did so far. I should have the bike paid off in the next 12 months. Every now and then, I send them a little chunk when I find some extra cash.
