Default Gerbings T5 Gloves Question

Quick question here - I have a Gerbings jacket liner and the T5 gloves with the dual controller. No way I can run the jacket liner turned all the way up, I'd melt, but the gloves are another story. Not a complaint, but I find myself routinely running the gloves turned all the way up. They keep my hands adequately warm but is this the norm? Should I be expecting to run them NOT turned all the way up? What is everyones else experience with these gloves?

Default Gerbings Tech Support

Just got off the phone with Gerbings Tech Support and they suggested I go back to where I bought them. The dealer could possibly have a controller set up where I could check out the gloves. She also said that a fairing or windscreen would make a big difference. She also recommended possibly going from a size large to a medium. I purchased my setup from a dealer who had EVERYTHING (all sizes) in stock at the time. I had thought that the medium gloves were to tight at the time. Beginning to think that mabey I should try the mediums on again! She also said that if the dealer wouldn't do anything (such as an exchange) that I should call back and they would see what they could do for me. She didn't seem to think my owning the setup 2 months would be a big deal!

i rang gerbings to ask the same question you asked.
the gloves will never be as hot as the jacket.
they are to keep your hands warm, not hot, if that makes sense.
they said if the gloves get as hot as the jacket, you may not be able to hold tightly to the handle bars, therefore lose control and crash.
they dont want to be sued.
i said heated grips get far hotter, their reply was " we dont make heated grips".

were down to nearly freezing here in the UK, and i ride daily.
my hands are not hot, but i dont feel the cold either.hands are warm.
and dont forget you have the wind chill factor on the gloves,
which will be more than you get on the jacket liner, as it has a jacket over the top of it.
hth.

I did a two hour ride last Saturday in 40F weather with my full Gerbing rig. Dual temp control for upper body and lower body. By the time I got the upper control turned up enough to get my hands warm, my chest was roasting.

Dual controller - left **** (black) controlls gloves - right **** (grey) controlls all else.

If you have the gloves on the same circuit as the jacket somethings not right!

I see you are in Central NJ, what dealer had all the Gerbing gear in stock? The few places I went only had a couple pieces and most were either smalls or xxxls

I just bought the G3's and am considering the G5 because they are gauntlets. I called Gerbing and was told the G5 has 50% more insulation in it. That may keep the heating elements further from your skin making it feel only warm...just a thought

I don't use a heated vest, just the gloves. I don't feel cold on the chest despite not having heating and (so far) no windshield. But I do wear a few layers including technical ski underwear while my hands are only protected by the gloves.
Therefore it would make sense to me, that the power setting on your vest would be lower than the power setting of the chest. The guy that sold me the gloves said he only wear a t-shirt under the heated jacket in winter. I guess also the torso takes a lot longer to drop in temperature than the hands..

I swear my gloves worked better before geting caught in one to many rain storms and getting soaked so badly that they would drip water for hours while drying.
