Dealer Screwed Up Again

RE: Dealer Screwed Up Again
Don't feel bad your not the only one this has happened to.
I was talking to this guy I met and he picked up his new bike, put 3k in accessories and then rode it to Datona bike week from Jersey. When he got back, the dealer showed up at his house one day to pick up his bike. It was the right bike model but wrong Vin. That bike was picked up and sold to the right person as a demo and he got the right bike with all 3k worth of brand new accessories.
It ended up as a free rental!

At my dealer, when you pick up the bike, the salesman is required to stand next to you and read the VIN off the bike while you verify it on the delivery ticket. I always wondered why, now I know. I'm glad it worked out in your favor.

I would agree the dealer messed up I would NOT agree with the insurance co or DMV screwing up. If you ordered insurance over the phone and gave them the vin off the title all the insurance company does is make sure the vin is a valid one for the type of vehicle your requesting insurance for. You'd be screwed if you got into and accident since the VIN didn't match. Unless the DMV requires a vin verification; I know Colorado required one for every vehicle I had there including trailers, then they simply issue a registration based on the title.

Sounds like you went way over your quota for dealing with dumbasses this year. The dealer screwed up, the insurance agent screwed up, and the tag office screwed up. I am glad you got it straightened out satisfactorily. Now, Appleton's is stuck with a bike that they are gonna have to sell as used. You got the free use of a bike to get used to riding again. Oh, and congratulations on becoming a civilian again. Where were you over here? I am at Speicher.
