Default How do I stand the bike upright

My Road King doesn't have a center stand and when it comes time to change the oil and such I was wondering what is the best and safest way to stand the bike upright off of the jiffy stand.

Also, can I install a center stand on my bike since it has an oil cooler, I was told I couldn't. I don't see what the cooler has to do with it since it sits in front of the engine and not under and center of the bike, that is just what I have been told. Also, is a center stand worth the added weight and expense?

usally drain beeter on side stand. You can put a 2x6 under side stand to level it more. I do that to get drain plug out then lean it back over to drain good.

use two tie down staps and hooks in the floor to stand it up stright

Go to Sears and buy the yellow aluminum jack......cheaper than a Rivco center stand and you'll use it frequently after you've gotten one.

Or you could jsut sit on it to drain the oil all the way. Leave on the side stand, and after about 10 minutes, sit on it for about 5 or 10 minutes. that is what I did until I got a lift from harbor freight...

Yellow Sears jack for me and well worth the money. Don't forget to get a little seat to go
with it so after you jack it up you can have a beer and admire it......

You can go low buck and pick up a Craftsmen bike jack. I've seen a very similar jack at Wal-mart for a less, I think $60. For the money people you can get a nice table jack with the front wheel clamps for $300 and up. The one site there will sell you plans to build your own lift. Good luck.

jlefty,,as far as center stands on your bike,,, well, I know this guy has on on his electra,,,, it takes 2 peeps to
get it up its stand,, he uses it mostly for parking lot displays, (to show off)
for maint.,, get a floor jack as mentioned... or Ive seen this kinda long bar with a support, slide it under the bike, pry back on bar it lifts the bike,
if your working on your bike close to the floor, I recomend a cheap creeper,,,'
kills my knees back, etc,, tuff to get old

If you plan to do any work on your bike the motorcycle jack will pay for itself very quickly. It makes it so easy to work on the bike you will find yourself doing things that you usually relied on the dealer to handle.

I picked my up cheap at one of the Auto Zone stores.
