touring section or general chat

touring section or general chat
It appears that 90 - 95% of things posted in the touring section should be general chat items. Why so much crap in a touring section? Shouldn't the touring section be about your rides, your modicifactions, paint job etc to touring bikes. No offense to the many posters but how to hook up a heated jacket, how to swap handle bars or what type of oil cooler, what type of oil are general chat crap. Just curious what others think? Maybe this is just the wrong forum for me, but there is a lot of nonsense in this touring section.

Huh? Whaaaat?
There is a much better chance of getting quality answers from this forum vs. general chat. Look how may posters there are on here? It takes days to get a reply on the "general chat" forum.
Welcome to the "Touring" forum btw...

Well, having just joined in December, and not having participated much, I personally would like to see newcomer complainers go elsewhere, but even your example problems have touring-specific issues - bagger bars are often different from others, they have electrical issues (TBW, etc). Plus its a community of touring people, so even tho questions seem general there are people who actively participate and are familiar with others on the touring forum. So hang out for a while, chill and enjoy.

I thought (as mentioned in the first post) that the touring section had turned into general chat. So my question was specifically related to the touring section, I guess i feel the question has its own uniqueness like say TWB

I find it all use full information and for one I am ok with them posting it here. My main interest is touring and do not to go to multiple forums threads to find the information I want and need.

What may seem to be nonsense depends on a particular point of view.Yes some of the threads seem to be trivial and simple to me but they are important to the person posting them. There are a lot of members in this forum , some are experienced riders and some are brand new to the scene. I am sure some of the topics could be moved to other places but I take it all in stride. This forum has been the best source of information on riding ,upgrading, and maintaining Harley's I have ever seen. I have learned good info on some of the simplest threads on this forum. Sit back weed through what you want, relax and enjoy .
Just my two cents.
