Didn't realize the ABS was on the cluster panel. I thought, perhaps, it was a sticker on the calipers or something...

Yeah, he's a dumb ***.

Ride hard!

Can I believe that a salesman miss led a buyer, YES, do I believe that there are buyers stupid enough to not know the difference,
if you have abs, the light is lit below a threshold mph (i believe it is 3-8 mph, but that's irrelevant), but once you reach that threshold, the light goes out. after that it will only come on if there is a problem (or you drop below that threshold again)

i know salesmen 'bend the truth' a little bit, but telling someone they have abs when they don't is a bit over the top. that is something that is very easy to verify, and would then bite that dealer in the ****. now, if it is on the buyer's contract, and he does not have it on his bike, then i believe that he does have a case against the dealership, not hd. but not for the amount that they are asking for.

Don't think that is good business practice. If it is a decal, I would think it would be more cost efficient not to put them on EVERY sled.

Perhaps the dude felt the wheel lock but presumed the ABS would kick in, but it was too late before he realized it wasn't.

Just sayin', I would have released it, but maybe he was relying on it.

Interesting!
Check your car, unless you have the top of the line model with every option I bet you have unused Icons and switches... Every manufacturer does it. What they didn't mention is that the ABS icon does not light up. It would only light up if the bike did have ABS....

Oh never mind....
Everyone already said the same thing...

My 99 Heritage had an icon that was used for police models. You could only see it if the sun was hitting the speedo at the right angle. Whenever it did I thought I was a motorcop. Couldn't find the siren switch though.

I feel for anyone involved in a motorcycle accident.
Ok thats done!
Now. this guy rode this motorcycle for 15 months and 12,000 miles and didn't know if he had abs or not.???? the crap meter just jumped!!!
Like a lot of members has mentioned here has said, GOT TO KNOW YOUR BIKE!!!!!
Maybe the owners manual would explain about the abs light? If its on or off. I WOULD THINK SO!
Also, when you are ridin ,especially on the interstate ,aren't you lookin about 2 to3 cars ahead of you , instead of the car in front of you. JUST SAYIN.

Quite likely!

Maybe they should just BAN shoes and hard floors!
Barefoot, rubber rooms and NO motorcycles is the answer.

Yes I have a right to be pissed. This will ultimately cost me, and you, $$$
