I been looking at used bikes and all I see from 2002 to 2006 was efi bikes sounds to me like they made 85% efi and just a handfull of carbs. I was thinking it was about 50/50 but it dont seem that way

When I bought my scooter new in 06 I actually had to spec it with a carb (Last carb year for FLHT) In 06 they had both but most were not carb, at least where I was.
I took the carb because I understand carbs and know how to work on them. When it comes to EFI...well lets just say I'm right up there with Forest Gump!

Holy crap I love my carb! Never a problem even when cold or high altitute or both. Pull the enricher for a few minutes that's it. Plus the sound is awesome.
You guys can keep your EFI's with all your maps and tuners...and extra costs $$$$

Don't know what the mix was during those years. But my guess is that they guys with the carbed bikes from those years are holding onto them...that is probably why you are not finding may for sale.
I sold my 05 RK Custom that was carbed and have regretted it since.

Well, I have both, and both have their pros & cons. Everybody talks about Carb sound, ease of tunability,EFI reliability & ease of operation, etc, etc, etc.
BUT.....
The one thing no one seems to mention, & the most important to me, is the RIDE quality. At steady cruise at ANY speed, carbs give a WAY smoother ride. Ther is none of that "jerkiness" associated with EFI.
I agre with DK---I think the carb guys are reluctant to part with them. I know I are!

Loved my carb bikes. Even though pulling the carb and re jetting was simple, I had to pull it too many times to get my bike to run good after new pipes and intake. With my EFI I just ride and the bike is smart enough to tell me what click of the computer I need to do. I dont have any "jerking" with my EFI. One other difference that I like is, when I had a carb I could go from sea level to 6k feet elevation in a matter of a few hours. When I got to the higher elevation my bike would run like crap. It does not do that that with the EFI. I liked both bikes, but in the end I am very happy with my EFI.

Don't know what the mix is but I would guess that as time rolled on, they probably started making more of them with EFI and the percentages changed as time went by.
