Default Road King and Pipes... Help me decide

I'm going to be getting a RK Classic this winter and I'll do full exhaust, breather, and ecu upgrade right off the bat. My question to you is this: What do you folks think about doing pipes on just one side of the Road King? My buddy had the longshots on his Heritage Softail and I swear it was the best sounding pipes that i've ever heard on a hd... was real loud when you wanted it to be.. it made all kinds of neat popping and whiz zip noises in between shifts! For some reason I like those pipes sounds better than any that I've heard; the only problem is that I'd lose the dual pipe look. I'm not against the idea of losing that dual look, but at the same time I think pipes on one side might make the bike look uneven.

Are there any dual pipes that sound as good as the longshots? How about the BigShots dual setup??? I've listened to a bunch of sound bytes and I'm thinking that my exhaust decision is going to be the most difficult one that I make.

Come on guys / gals help me decide on the exhaust, Ralph

I like the dual pipe look on the RK. I wouldn't change that.

I personally like the looks of the dual pipes on RKC's but it is your bike. Take a look at the Bassani 2:1 pipes...I kinda' like the looks of those pipes.

Good luck.

I've listened to a set of Bassani 2 into 1 on a SE Fatboy... it sounded mean as hell, but it might of been overly loud. I wonder if the Thunderheader is louder than the bassani pipe?

I second what KBFXDLI said. I don't think Baggers look right without those dual pipes visible at the rear. As to brand of duals.....I'm partial to Reinhart's True Duals. I have the True Duals, PC III with a Dyno Tune and SE a/c. Dynoed right at 79 hp. My riding partner also has a Road King Classic with the True Duals. Both bikes are '05s and fuel injected. We vie with each other to ride 'trail' because then we can hear our own exhaust as well as the exhaust note of the bike ahead. IMHO it is a pure pleasure to listen to those two sets of Reinharts in full song. ................... BC

I like rineharts too. I get compliments on my pipes after group rides from the person behind me all the time. I have also heard that T-Rex 3" TD's are very nice sounding and loud.

I like my Thunderheader 2-1 pipes on my Glide. I do miss the look a little (had the SEII pipes on before), but it really is to each their own when it comes to looks. Very few pipes will match a 'Header in performance, especially compared to 2-2 pipes!
