2010 XR1200X Decent Price??
I'm looking at buying a 2010 XR1200X with only 40 miles on it. Asking price is $8,850. Decent price, or should I push for something lower? If so, what?

Got a local dealer asking more than that for a 2009 with 3500 miles on it. But you always want try and push for the lowest possible price. I don't think it's a big seller, that same dealer still has a brand new 2010 they haven't sold yet.

Nada states low retail at 8165.00 try 8000 at first. To me this bike reminds me of more of a standard. Like my SV1000 I use to have. Suprisingly these tend to depreciate like regular standards and metrics.
The worst thing they can say is no.

No No No. That is not a good deal if you know anything about the bikes. If it's a 2010 it's not an XRX. 2010's are basically the same as the 2009's and they are everywhere. People can't hardly give them away. 2009 and 2010 suspension is somewhat akin to an Amish buggy, it's really bad, the rear much more so than the front.2011 and up had the front and rear 3-way adjustable suspension and floating rotors. I have an 09 that i upgraded to the XRX suspension. I got a barely used 09 cheap that could justify the total cost of $1000 for the suspension upgrade kit(after selling old parts).

Hummm, nothing on TV so I got nosey and found Not one 2010 XR1200X listed on Ebay, HD4sale, or craigslist mn. Saw only one 2011 and it was $10,500.
So hard to put a figure on it. KBB retail excelllent value is $10,000, trade in (good) $7330.00. $8665 is in the middle between the two so seems like a good deal to me and NADA average retail shows $10390.
Like has been said, it never hurts to try to get it cheaper, but if you really want it someone else may take while you barter over a few hundred bucks. Happened to me.
Looks like a fun bike to ride. I know nothing of the suspension problems mentioned. Don't be shy about asking the owner anything.

I think that's a helluva deal for an awesome bike. I've owned lots of standards - Japanese, German and Italian and honestly it's right up there. The suspension on the 2010 is not as good as the 11 but it's a far cry from awful. Especially since you didn't post your weight and habits. I'd try to buy low and see if maybe they give you a deal on the suspension upgrades and installation if you really think you need it. Not a ten percent off deal either I'm talking giving you parts at cost and labor as cheap as they can to move a real slow seller.
Good luck and make it quick before I try to find this gem myself.
