Basically, run a biker off the road = $200 fine, run a biker off the road causing damage or injury = $500 fine. Not much, but it's something. In reality, if I need to hit the ditch because some jack-wagon in a cage drifts across the center line and causes me injury/damage, I could give a rat's azz about his $500 fine.

I imagine, most of these will be handed out after an accident. I can't really see too many times a cop will observe a cage causing a biker to change lanes and pull them but ya never know, stranger stuff has happened.

and the fines should go to the rider of the bike, damn jack wagons

$500 minimum sounds about right to me, should be the same no matter what type of vehicles are involved (maybe more for commercial vehicles). Increasing fines doesn't help the victim at all.

Let the civil lawsuits inflict more monetary punishment, too bad the lawyers may get most of that.

About a month ago I was ran off the road by a car passing in a no passing zone, luckily we where not hurt but I was angry, I turned around and got behind the car and got their license plate. I did call into the sheriff's department which I found out did follow up the driver was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving. I got a hold of a dispatcher that does ride and the responding officer does as well.

Sounds like a "feel good" story and I'm glad you were able to "catch" the guy.

But then again, those two tickets he got (if he really did get them) should be pretty easy to beat in court unless you've got other witnesses willing to testify.

Nice feel good attempt but doubt it'll pull many heads out of asses for most drivers .

I support Run a bike of the road = 5 minutes alone with driver
Above injury or damage = biker gets to bring 3 buddies of choice for the five minutes
Kill someone just weld them in a drum with a couple gallons of live grave beetles
