Loved the article! I just knew it was gonna be a bit on why NOT to run apes, quite the contrary. I agree with all that said they're more comfortable, don't understand the why but they are. LOVE EM! A must have for any ride I own from now on. Never considered the benefits to your back but makes sense... My back oddly does feel better after a ride?

These go on my Betty next week:

End time: May 20, 2012 9:32:39 PM EDT

18" ape hangers, z bars, handle bars, ROAD 6 CUSTOMS, SPRINGER!

Can't wait!

Now to find some cables?!
Any recommendations? 75 FXE

A lot of the bros get in my face over this but Chesty would agree, that's kool...

Having Ape's is no different than when we were kids and put playing cards in our spokes!

Bring it...I ain't scared.

Well, it's all about having the coolest bike (and looking the coolest on it!) that you can. Personally, I don't like apes nor drag bars on a heavy twin, but how boring would it be if everyone had beach bars?

I went from drag bars to 10" z bars. My hands are now about an inch under shoulder height and the increase in comfort is greatly improved. I'm still getting a feel for handling, as I put 15k on the stock drags and only about 200 miles on the new setup, but I can still drag my pegs effortlessly!

Now if I can only lower my seat by an inch it'll feel perfect...

I've had apes on bikes I've owned in the past, but I love to look and feel of my drags on my bike I have now.

I know here in Indiana LEO's are starting to ticket any bikes with bars higher than shoulder height. And yes, the bike pictured in the article is a real bike. I've sat on it at the Boogie a couple of years ago and talked to the guy that rides it.
