Default Risers and bushings

I need to put new risers on my FXSTC as the stock risers will no longer screw down tight enough to hold the bars in place. While searching for risers, I came accross "drilled" risers. A google search yeilds no results. What are they?

I figure since I would have the risers off I might as well put some decent bushings in there as well. I've never done bushings and would like to know if there are any special tools required. I do have a manual, but am at work right now.

As far as tools, just a couple open end wrenches is all I needed.
Use poly bushings when you change up, the rubber ones are weak, that may be all you have to do.

I put those poly bushings from "BK-Rider" on all my bikes. They're inexpensive and work great. You find them all over e-bay. They are red and come with chrome washers (you don't see any red once the risers are tightened down).

I don't know what "drilled" risers are, BUT Carlini makes nice risers that have additional "set screws" in the bottom to keep the bars from slipping. Something that helps if you're running apes on the bike.

Heli coil the risers for the clamp bolts too. Then the bolts will tighten down nice and tight.

Thanks Drew!! Stupid me. I have heli coils I can use. Duh, should have thought of that. You just saved me a couple hundred.

Now that I don't have to spend that money, I can order a gun belt from ya.

HD sells some orange ones that are supposed to be for higher bars and are less susceptible torquing that you get turning the bike etc. I'd get those. they are like 35 bucks and will last a long time and it is a super easy change out.

I've been know to use a bit of that abrasive cloth like the plumbers use on copper pipe to clean it around bars that tended to move a bit from over used clamps when the heli coil option wouldn't roll . Shims and holds real well with cheaper pot alum. OEM & aftermarket stuff .
