Riding Style?

When I am on my bike, I am in awe at the feel, wind, scenery and sound of bike. I dont go fast because I would miss all that. 60 mph is a mile a minute, that is 5,280 ft in 60 seconds, fast enough for this old man. Only do 80 when I am forced into it on the slab, other wise, let them fools go around me, I am in no hurry.

Can't fault the guy for riding alone I prefer it that way myself , have most of my 40 yrs on a bike . From where I stand on it the bike and I are all about me and what I want to do , not about the group consensus . Tried that BS didn't care or it , like cooks too many egos fuc things up .
Don't know what the sweet spot is going to be with the new engine & drivetrain configuration on mine yet , added 15 HP and did some gearing dancing but the old 88" setup on my shovel I went across most of the western states on secondaries rolling between 85-95 before the buzz started hitting the mirrors & footpegs hard and I can't say I seriously didn't have a big *** grin enjoying every bit of it .

I've always been a firm believer in going at least 5mph faster than the flow to keep myself from getting run the **** over. I'm a side by side guy also, no staggered formations here. I usually do about 73 on the I-5.

No ****? I've done it in five different states and never gotten a ticket. Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon and Washington.

I don't know when Dave got his ticket or when Colorado statute 42-4-1503 was revised but it is legal to ride two abreast in Colorado now.

For the states you mention it is not illegal to ride side by side. Each state has it' own laws. HERE is a website with State by State listings of motorcycle specific laws.

I know what you're talking about...for me, I go with whatever the situation calls for...for example:
When on a highway, I put as much distance between me and the cagers as possible to find a nice buffer zone. Sometimes, that means 85-90 for short distances then throttling back to whatever helps me keep a decent buffer.
On the side roads - for the most part - I enjoy slow and easy, although sometimes I feel the need to lean the bike. Again, it depends on how I feel. The speed is determined by who is around me, how much visibility I have (front and sides), and what my mood is.
All in all, I think you should let your experience level and the situation decide how fast or slow you ride. I've been on the very fast end as well as the slow-and-easy end several times.
Bottom line...enjoy your ride and go with your gut.
