NEW 2012 Harley FLD Dyna Switchback
#21
The Switchback is a 700 lb bike? I didn't look at the specs. If it is indeed 700 lbs then its in the same neigborhood as my Street Glide which is in the 700 lb category. That isn't much of a weight difference?
I test rode one yesterday for a few miles and it was impressive. I think HD has a winner here. The SB is nimble and agressive for a 700+ lb bike. The handlebars and seat put you in a more agressive position and the bike is super responsive. It was a thrill and I'm buying it this week-- Southern Cali

according to the spec sheet, in running order the switch is 718lbs, while your street glide is 822lbs.

I like the bike but there are a few items I would have to change. The front fender seems small compared to the FL fenders on the Softails but that might be the wheel. Speaking of the wheels, they would need to be changed out for a set of spokes, I just have a soft spot for laced wheels. Other than that it would have been nice if it were out 6 years ago so I could have bought one as apposed to building one.

My fiance' and I both have one. She traded in her 750 Honda Spirit and I traded in my '02 Heritage.
We couldn't be happier. They're a blast to ride, quick and nimble. I like that they can be stripped down or loaded up. I really dig the FL front end and the "Torque Thust" styled wheels.
I had looked at RKs and Electra Gildes, very nice bikes, but being only 5'6" they were a little intimidating for me. The FLD is probably a little small for anyone near 6' tall.
And the price was right, I couldn't have afforded a new RK.
Just like anythhing else, not every bike is right for everyone. Ain't that a good thing?
