Broken screws in timing cover
My cover was a bit manky (see pic below) so I picked up some new ones last week whilst I was over in the US.
Easy Peasy job right?
All the screws were Glued in. Not Loctite or similar. Glue.
No matter how I worked them, all except one snapped off. FFS.
Now I'm going to have to drill them out.
Is this normal or has a previous owner been a bit of a ****?
Looks better for now though but it's pissed me off.

Have no idea why anyone would "glue" a bolt in. Sorry you had that issue. If you can find a left hand drill bit, they work really good. The left hand twist will usually free the bolt up and it will spin out. Good luck.

I think you mean the previous owner was a bit of a "twit," no? ( Well maybe not.)
Yeah, mine all came out smoothly on a 12 year old bike, so somebody apparently screwed up.

It's like a super solid 2 pack Araldite or something. Really rock hard.
Makes me wonder what else I'll find now

Well since there is nothing behind the timing cover, there is no reason to remove it unless one is going to change it out. Since yours is still stock, I'm guessing the previous owner never removed it at all. I'd put my money on the screws being sort of corroded in there. Best way to remove screws like that are by using a hand impact to get them started.

What the hell is a manky? And yeah, if the previous owner glued them in then he is one...what ever it is.
