Default '03 Road King Question

I have an opportunity to buy a 2003 Anniversary Edition Road King that is in excellent shape and has a lot of upgrades on it including Rhinehart Duel Exhausts and the warranty doesn't expire until 2008 for 14,500. The bike does have 36,000 miles on it. Is this a good deal or not? Also, when it comes to replacement parts and work to be done on this bike considering it is an Anniversary edition will it cost more, mind you I don't really care if the replacement part is an anniversary part or a regular RK part, I was told by somebody else that only anniversary parts can be used on an anniversary bike. Looking through the parts catalog I don't see any differentiating between parts. Such as part 123 will fit Road Kings between year 2001 to 2006, no exclusion for 2003 or Anniversary edition bikes.

I agree. 11-12K would be about right.

I think it depends on where you live. That bike would bring 13-14 in phoenix.

I have the 2003 Road King Classic and no the parts are no different. The only pieces you need to worry about are the emblems, any of the decals, and the other anniversary specific parts. But the actual functioning parts and add ons are all the same. The anniversary bikes are only dressed up standard bikes. Take a good look at the stripe down the tank. You'll find that the Harley Davidson name is painted in there real fine. Thats the kind of changes they made.
The price range is just about the going rate up here. But as said I believe a lot of it has to do with location.

alabama appraises 03s at a higher value than 04s for ad valorum tax purposes (same as personal property tax). 03s are still in demand and can bring that much. i wouldn't sell my 01 RK for less than $12K.

Thanks all, I think I will offer 11,000 and see where that gets me. As for the parts, I didn't think there was anything different other than the emblamatic parts particular to the 03. Again, thanks for the advice.

Jlefty, keep in mind that with 36000miles,the cam chain tensioners should be inspected.Does the owner have service records?

NADA Average Retail for an '03 Roadking is 13,480. A new one in two tone should not be more than 19,400.

In my opinion, there is no real added value just because it is an anniversary model. there were a lot of them made plus, it has not been my experience that the special editions are worth any more than any other used bike.

Regards,

Bill
