"I wear half helmets, so I do get a lot of wind/pipe noise when riding. He TOLD me to get something that covers my ears when riding."
I realize you're a "half-helmet" guy, but you might consider trying a good (not "cheap", but _good_) full-face. They do a much better job controlling airflow around the ear area.
I use a Shoei X-SP (now superseded by the X-12), best one they make. Not cheap by any means. One can still find the now-discontinued (but still superb) X-11 at closeout pricing here and there.
Arai makes good ones, too. Which one works best depends on your head shape.

If I could afford one, I'd wear one of the nicest open face helmets available, the Ruby. http://www.ateliersruby.com/

Helmet Mount
I have a spare helmet I like to carry on the bike for passagers. I have been putting it in my small throw over bags but it takes up alot of space and rubbing the inside of the bag is damaging the matte finish. I have a 09 Street Bob and only the throw overs no rack or anything. Any ideas how to mount it? Mark

Like I said to you on the other forum, a helmet alone is not the solution to your problem. Buy these. You will thank me. http://earplugsonline.com/
