Today we observe Veterans Day, take a moment to remember those who have served our nation in uniform. It is so easy for us to take for granted every day those who have fought and died for our country. Those men and women for over 230 years have helped secure the freedoms we have and cherish. With our country currently engaged in two wars, this Veterans Day is a timely reminder of the sacrifices made for us by our men and women serving and by their families in supporting them.
Our nation will never be able to fully repay the sacrifices made by our armed forces but we can take time today to remember and reflect on the actions and commitment of those people. To all of you who have served in the military, I thank you and appreciate the sacrifices made on my behalf, on my family’s behalf, and on behalf of our entire nation. We are forever indebted to you. With a volunteer military, I also realize and appreciate the fact your commitment to our nation and its people is not a requirement for you to serve but a choice. We all owe you debts of gratitude for making those choices that we will probably never be able to repay.
Please take some time today to thank those people who work for you who have served in the military, are serving now, or have family members serving. It would be good for them to know on this Veteran’s Day that we care and appreciate all they have done for us.
And to all, have a safe and reflective Veterans Day.
