You were right in what you did! If this is your GF's standard of thinking,I would reconsider your relationship!

Yes, you did the right thing and yes it's crappy that the dealer would have made the employee pay for it.

You shouldn't even have to ask. You absolutely did the right thing.

You did the right thing. Wonder how your GF would feel if something like that happened to her. Karma can be a bitch!

I'd find a new dealer. Dealer should have a better control system to scan the item and prevent these kind of mistakes. So they have an inventory control system of making the employee pay.

You are so right. Integrity is in short supply with todays generation.

For what it's worth, sometimes it happens the other way around.

A couple of months ago, I took my Toyota Sienna in for the 20,000 miles service. They charged me $96. I paid it without questioning it.

A week later, they called me up and said they'd made a mistake and transposed the two digits. It should have been $69.

They refunded me the difference.

It's either right or it's wrong. There's no in between. You did the right thing.
Like Hocus-Pocus said, what would your GF say if the situation was reversed and it was her that was owed the money? As a side effect, the dealer now knows that you're an honest customer. Hopefully they'll reciprocate in the way they treat you.
