RE: Anyone here every worked at HD dealer selling bikes?
well it is not all its cracked up to be but yes you do get great bennies for working there , but sales is sales and not a pretty job
I still do a part time sales gig for one of the hottest growing Biker Magazines and I am still assemblying Led Brake lights for HD's
also I am still employed in the IT industry but Monday I go back to work doing a 40+ hrs week on a real job to pay the bills
I will be giving up my IT Job and the assembly job and probally just stick with freelance on the advertizing gig
I will still be doing my own IT stuff and web stuff and Motorcycle promotions and events along with my new tech job

$90k...hmmmmm...that sounds pretty good for just about anyplace else except maybe SoCal. I understand what you're saying about job satisfaction though; I've got a great job (a lot of people remind me that I do) and work in some outstanding places.
At times I've caught myself complaining about my job and then I have to step back for a minute and remind myselft that the grass isn't necessarily greener in other pastures. As rare as a $90k income is I think I would try to find things about my current job that make me happy. If you want to sell HD's try it on a limited basis (weekends?) before you drop out of the IT profession.

I'm not unhappy and I'm not underpaid.....................I just want a Saturday off[sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]

You'd think after reading some of the posts on this forum that why would anyone want to work for a dealer? Many people here do nothing but complain about how they get treated so badly by dealership employees, why? Most unhappy employees are underpaid!

From the look of the bike in your signature it doesn't look like you are doing to badly.

Oh, I've been fortunate the last 2 years, but the company I work for went public and now it's very corporate, so I have no security. I left the retail auto business and I know what being under paid is all about!!!

I worked for a H D dealer a few years back in the service dept. Our sales guys were base plus com. Dealing with some customers was... very interesting, e few make you wonder if they were denied their medication for the day. . Back then, the prices were held high, so only the truly dedicated got a new bike. The best part of that job was it was fun and you get all yours parts at cost + 10%, after one year you are allowed to purchase 1 bike a year at cost.
