I bought my Harley because I like them. I ride for my own reasons, and could care less what anyone else thinks. Don't mean to sound harsh, but riding for me is independence, and I don't need to belong to a group or a groupthink mentality to enjoy myself. Good luck with your research.

 

I bought mine because I love the way they look, sound and feel, plus they are AMERICAN! I knew the Harley "community" (as you put it) was big and was there, but I had no idea how big. Man...what a wake up call! I have joined a club, been on some rides and thoroughly love everything about it. You can tell from my name what I ride...I bought it used from an individual who apparently wanted to be known as a guy who owned a Harley, but he was afraid to ride it. It was 4 yrs old with only 3200 miles on it. I've had it almost 6 months and have put 6000 additional miles on it. I think my scoot is a he....not a her..lol..who knows why, just one of those "I want to be a little different" things..his name is "Thunder". (wife says im nuts) DILLIGAF?
Anyway...just wanted to say that I love my scoot, love riding, love the comradarie, and all the other things that go with it. I'm having the time of my life...only wish I had done it a long time ago.

Reminds me of the Harley commercial where you see the woman come home with a parade of loser dates, only to have them left at the curb w/o even a kiss. The last picture you see is a Harley parked at the curb with a red bra hanging from handlebars.

 

I bought mine because I always wanted a Harley. Because it is a Harley. Period. But as far as "community"... I started out on a Yamaha and I discovered the community then and was accepted. Here it is not a Harley community. It is a biker community. Who cares what you ride. Ride what you like, and enjoy it.

 

Always wanted one but just never pursued it until recently. Purchased to ride if having it brings about new friends and opens up new avenues so be it but it is there to ride and enjoy.
