Thumbs up

Some of my favorite riders are senior citizens. Meet a couple a few weeks back that are friends of some friends. They are in their sixtys. Funny thing was there was another couple there too, turned out to be his dad & mom. We rode all day & had a blast. Hope to ride with them again!!!

I started riding on a Cushman Eagle at 14 and still love it. This morning I rode 200 miles for breakfast.

Lots of older riders out there. some just don't say much, here in our town more retired guys have Harleys than the younger ones.

As long as they can do it, by all means, do so. Riding is pretty unforgiving of the inattentiveness and stupidity we see in many drivers of advanced age. They'll only get to stop dead in the middle of traffic once when on a bike....

There was a 102 year old guy getting his drivers license who sat next to me the last time I needed to get a new license. He passed all the tests with flying colors! Another guy there who was 64 they called a Spring Chicken when it was his turn

Old people only drive too slow. It's teenage drivers that scare me!

I'm 61, and love to go on seven or eight day trips. Not so much for day rides as there isn't much to look at here. I ride slow enough to be a slight danger on mountain roads that have no visual background. I think it is what is called vertigo, but that is self diagnosed. I am getting much better on the curves that have a good visual background. I will drive 85 all day on a good two lane, but will drive with the traffic on interstates. Young people can't get off to go ride on trips on a short notice.

One of my riding buddies is 72. Be rides a dresser like it's a toy. I hope I'm still riding at that age.

I'm hoping I'm still riding into my 80's, and my son and daughter are constantly arguing with me and trying to take my bike away... then, one sunday, I am very late for dinner at my daughter's house, when the phone rings....

Last summer was my 50th year of riding – I started when I was nine on mini-bikes and then went to dirt bikes. When I turned twenty in 1972 I bought my first street bike – see photo below, and have been riding both street and dirt bikes ever since. I don’t think of myself as a senior citizen, but I’m turning 60 in November. I’m going to keep riding as long as I still enjoy it and if things get too crazy, I’ll just ride dirt bikes with my 10 year old son. Life is short – enjoy the ride!
