I am no oil expert, but i believe that most oils today of the proper grade will do fine in a Harley Davidson engine...Personally i have run synthetics, Dino oil etc....and have found that Valvoline 20-50 motorcycle dino oil makes my bike run much quieter than the other oils i have tried.....My 2008 FXD now has 40k miles on it and i have had no problems....I change my oil and filter every 3k miles give or take a few hundred miles....I use WIX oil filters.

These oil threads are always full of misinformation, truth is regular oil without additives that may harm Harley engines are fine every 3K. If you go longer a good synthetic 5k. Harley doesn't make oil Citgo does they just put their name on it. So unless you're an Iron Butt rider or live in very dusty conditions paying more is just buying into the hype IE Harley independent oil dealer etc.... for the record I use M1 15-50
