Default What part of North America has the most insects

Discussing next summers ride with my Wife and we'd like to go to Arkansas. Talked about Alaska also but she say's she heard that you need to constantly carry a can of bug spray with you when you're there. She hates the bugs when she ain't riding her Dyna.
So for those of you that have been all over the continent, skip Mexico or anything South of that... where is the buggiest place?

I'd have to say Florida ... holy crap. Take a summers eve ride .. it's like it's snowing out but those bugs are splattering all over everything.

Alaska isn't all that bad... though I'd swear that the mosquito's in Anchorage (back in the early 1970's when I lived there) were big enough that you could saddle and ride them.

Here in AZ we get flies, mosquito's, scorpions, and all sorts of desert critters. Fortunately it's not usually too bad during the summer but sometimes they'll show up when you least expect it.

I was in Denver last week and the airport was over-run by flies. Didn't seem as bad once I got into town but I was swatting flies like mad while still at the airport.

Regarding Fla, Cromagnon is correct! When the love bugs are out that part of the country becomes really messy!

Would probably depend on when you went. Down this way, it varies by the month. You don't want the deep south in Sept/Oct due to Love Bugs. Bugs in NE Tennessee run from Spring to late fall. Worse at night.

Been all over....

hands down.. Northern Canada.. in the summer. It's not so bad in the winter, but there are other problems then.

I've seen the bugs so bad in Texas that the roads were slick. Down by the boarder the cockroaches are really bad and they speak Spanish.

I agree with it depends on when you're going. Don't go if it's cecada time. Swarms that look like clouds everywhere. Absolutely horrible. We don't have much here in Nevada. Not a whole lot to see, but we definitely have our plus's. I grew up in Missouri, depending on when you go, you may want to stay away from there too. I don't think you're going to get away from them. If you want to see green and not desert, you're ganna be stuck with 'em. Or wintertime.

You will want 3/4 helmets with the flip up (easy to clean) face shields.
