What part of North America has the most insects

I've lived and traveled all over the US. Water (not frozen) is the key. More Water = more Bugs, less Water = less Bugs. California is hands down the least buggy place I've lived or visited. The last rain is usually in late March or early April and then it generally doesn't rain at all until around late November or early December. The result is very few bugs. Spiders and Ants can occasionally be the exception . . . but Spiders and Ants don't generally hit you in your face when you're riding.

I am a pest control tech, & I can safely say Florida is correct. We also have alot of dangerous stuff;the Brown Recluse spider being the worst. We have Black widows, brown widows, scorpions, fire ants, cicada killer wasps, mud daubers, all kindsa bees, all 4 poisonous snakes, alligators AND crocodiles--and if a sowbug ever flys into you--you'll need a defibrillator to re-start your heart! Whatever you do, don't go camping here or walk around barefoot.
Love bugs suck for 2 weeks in the spring & fall.
I have been to Alaska, and as luck would have it, I went during mosquito season. When walking in any rural areas, which is 99 & 44/100% of Alaska, you must keep moving;if you stop, mosquitos & no-see-ums the size of 747s will cover you like a blanket. Get repellant that's pure DEET--Stuff like OFF they drink for breakfast!

North and South Dakota have to be up there. This fall when I rode through those states there were so many grasshoppers that will completely cover the front of your bike. Grasshoppers are big mushy bugs that splatter all over the bike and riders. People that ride in these states on a regular basis must really like to ride.

Here is southern IL seems we have horrible bug problems from early spring to late fall. First gnats & mosquitos all the time, then buffalo gnats late spring to early summer, then bees & June bugs, then grasshoppers late summer, now flies gnats & ladybug swarms. I rode yesterday & my windshield is so covered you can barely see throug it.
However, it doesn't help I live less than a mile from a major river & swampland either..
