Default Heated Storage at HD dealership

Well, It's getting to be that time of year again and I got a letter from my local HD dealership about storing it in their heated garage over the winter. $50 a month, or FREE if I buy $300 in parts/accessories. If I pay more, they offer pickup-dropoff, and spring washing.

What are your thoughts on heated storage? Anybody give their bike to HD for safekeeping over winter?

Is keeping the bike in their Heated Storage really any better then doing the regular winterizing of the bike (stabil, change oil, etc.) for cold storage?

Ill be keeping my bike in the basement of the house. Cold storing the bike isnt bad as long as its dry. A dry shed or a garage where it might not get way to cold isnt bad. I think my basement and garage get pretty cold but its better than outside and its free.

My dealer wants $250 and they will cchnge the oil...
My Indy is offering $150 and they will wash the bike....

Either way it means more room in my garage!

Even in heated storage, you need to add Stabil to the fuel. I guess it depends on how badly you need the garage space this winter. I like having my bikes around so I can polish on them, start them up once in a while, etc.

I keep mine in my shed over the winter. If you store it properly, you shouldn't have an issues and save yourself some coin. Stabil in the tank, change the oil, take the battery out and put it on a tender, put steel wool in the pipes so rodents don't make it their home, a good coat of wax and put a breathable cover over it and you're fine.

My main reason for not putting it in storage is so I can ride until the snow flies, take it out if spring comes early, and tinker with it if I feel the need. I would prefer heated storage but if you prepare it well, it will do fine in the cold.

Actually heated storage is where you need STA BIL. I've never had gas varnish up in cold weather. Mowers never get it and do fine. But snowblower over the summer goes bad real quick. If you have good dry cold storage, that will be just fine.

If you have no where good to store it it aint a bad deal if you want some work done. dealer here offers different deals depending on what you want and what you have done over winter. They also wash it and keep it on a tender
For what it cost me to build my bike room I could have stored mine the rest of my life.

No heat in my garage and all I do is plug in battery tenders to my bikes (a lot easier than taking batteries out of several bikes).

No Stabil and no fluid changes before the winter either.
