Heated Storage at HD dealership
#26
Local self store place is offering $24 per month for climate controlled storage unit for motorcycles. 24 hr access, surveillance, etc. I might take them up on that as I could still work on the scoot, and in more comfort than my unheated garage!

Well, It's getting to be that time of year again and I got a letter from my local HD dealership about storing it in their heated garage over the winter. $50 a month, or FREE if I buy $300 in parts/accessories. If I pay more, they offer pickup-dropoff, and spring washing.
What are your thoughts on heated storage? Anybody give their bike to HD for safekeeping over winter?
Is keeping the bike in their Heated Storage really any better then doing the regular winterizing of the bike (stabil, change oil, etc.) for cold storage?

First off I am not sending my bike to a dealer and leaving it here all winter having God only knows who around it and anything else that can go wrong. The cold is not going to hurt the bike, I mean you park and drive your car in the cold don't you? I just change all the fluids so it's fresh in the spring, fill the tank up and put some Seafoam in the tank, plug the tender in and cover her up-don't touch it will spring unless i'm working on it. I have always stored my bikes this way and never had any issues.

My dealer offers free lifetime winter storage for all new and used bikes. Being new I expect they will eventually have to change that. I posted elsewhere about getting my RK in the 36" doorway? I would rather have it near, I have only had it 3 weeks, we haven't bonded yet!

I store mine in my garage and have done the storage unit as well. Mostly becasue I will be away for a few months at a time. In the winter garage gets into single didgits at times. Never had an issue. All I do is plug a tender into it and make the tank is full. The local dealer here is offering $249 for 6 months storage with unlimited in and out and a detail every time you return it. Thought about it, but its too far away if I want to take her out for a quick spin, which I will do if there is no snow on the ground.
