Well dude, you must have been alive only a few years then. Especially if you think a bike is gonna blow past someone without them knowing they are there.
But to play along with the uneducated, in a curve, I'll be the one closest to the yellow line. They're going to have to cross the line, or take the high side. That wouldn't be very smart either.

oh and let me give you a clue how long ive been riding seeings how you seem to have a fetish with that...long enough to remember when it was all about chasing the front tire...didn't matter harley , honda whatever , we looked out for each other. when you types with your shiny new baggers ,dressed all in leather and flame harley under wear and bad *** grimaces finally get off the road and move on to your next hobby , we will still be here , helping each other out ...sharing our lane when needed ...having a good time......
but please , continue on with how your gonna "educate them " ....there has to be more than riding by the yellow line ...as bad *** is that is ...c'mon....kick them while they go by ?? ..pull out your dirty harry 44 and start blasting away ??

Staying close to the yellow line in a right hander at Deals Gap is a recipe for disaster, whether someone is pushing you or not. Not a good idea on any road with lots of twisties. Ever see someone crossing the yellow in a left hander?
Jonesee and Brian have the right attitude.
Plus, there are many paved pull offs available at deals Gap now.

I was just about to comment on that too. I couldn't agree more....!!!!! I have seen way too many of those disasters with both cars and bikes crossing the double yellow. Ladies and gentlemen, riding mountain roads is nothing like riding the interstates and highways. It takes a completely different skillset whether you are on a Harley or a sportbike.

thats how you are gonna educate them ?? by riding close to the yellow line ?? they will pass ya on the right ( and so will I if traffic is heavy and you don't move over) at the first straight away ( edit : seeings how you have now added "in a curve" to your education program )...or wait...maybe you might swerve to try and cut em off so ya both go down right dude ?? that would teachem ...teach em good

The first time I rode the Dragon many years ago, I was scared to death because of all the stories. Consequently, I decided to get there as early as possible to avoid most of the traffic.
I left Robbinsville at 7:30 on a Friday morning. When I got to Deal's Gap and started on the Dragon, it was essentially empty. I passed two cars and truck coming from the Tennessee side towards NC and met two couples on Gold Wings at the overlook. Beyond that, there was no one on the Dragon.
I've been back many times but it's always been crowded with riders and never as enjoyable as that first time. Quite honestly the only reason I ride the Dragon anymore is to take riders there who have never been before. As someone already pointed out, there are much better riding roads in the area.
And yes, as someone already pointed out, you WILL get yourself killed riding the yellow line on the Dragon.
