Battery tender

My thinking as well but I've been told that you should charge your batt
frequently w/ a charger. I guess the charging system is not adequate?

Just picked up a new one today and found something new and interesting. The drag specialties and moco tenders are identical. Made by the same company in the same packaging. The drag one comes with a 5 yr warranty. The moco one 3 months. This was pointed out to me by my hd dealer. Thought you'd all like to know if in the market for one.
Why not buy the real thing and get the Battery Tender Plus for less money, and a TEN year warranty. It charges at 1.25 amps.
A simple internet search will find them available for less than $35. They go on sale often at Competition Accesories where I've purchased mine. Their regular price is $39.95. I run them on my boat, tractor, lawn mower, and three motorcycles. I have had two fail after years of use, and they were replaced immediately at no cost direct from www.Batterytender.com . I did have to pay return shipping.
The last time I checked our Harley dealer was selling the Jr for $59.95
For the doubters just go to http://www.compacc.com/ and enter Battery Tender in the search box.

With all due respect, Vile Lou, I'm just fricking laughing. The Battery Tender Harley sells is the Battery Tender Jr, charging at .75 amp.

I just bought a Deltran Battery Tender Jr. on Amazon for $23 last week, no tax, free shipping. I have seen them on MC superstore for $19.99 on sale. The low amp tender is preferable...it is a tender not a charger. designed to keep your charged battery from discharging and not charge a dead battery.
Just like the Gerbing clothing rebranded with the Harley name. Check the warranties on that !

The battery in my 99 FXSTC is almost 6 years old, and never had a tender on it. It is an AGM type battery. Last time I looked you could get these Adventure batteries from Amazon for $69.95. My bike rarely sits idle for more than 5 or 6 weeks without riding, and it has never failed to start. I can not see a need for a tender.
