Thanks everyone for chiming in. My thought to go with just the 95 ci deal airbox and rineharts.
Out riding yesterday with a friend who has a roadking classic, his mods are
95 ci stage 1 kit comes w air cleaner
203 cams
Rineharts
I was real impressed how well it idled and ran down the street
We put on about 150 miles yesterday and he showed me some sweet power at 55 he downshifted to 3rd
and it looked like the bike wanted to make liftoff and from a standing stop WOW this thing is very streetable.

Went back to the dealer added the cams 203 and also purchased the sert (will dyno this spring )
So my mods are now
95 ci
203 cams
Rineharts
air box
The cams wern't necessary but there is no big loss of gass milage and real streeable
The whole deal here was the dealer was selling the stage 1 kit no cams for $ 900.00 installed (good deal)
I hated to spend the extra $500.00 for cams when I thought the labor was high seeing the motor would be
apart anyway, so i spoke with them and they gave me a better deal and 25% off on the sert.
When everything is installed I will write back and give more feed back.

If you own the bike long enough and ride it enough, one day will come when you will wish that you had chosen to put in a gear drive, especially if you are paying someone else to replace cam chain tensioners that are worn out.

Looked in the parts booh and didn't see a gear drive setup I agree it could be a good thing. Can you expound more on your experience.

Tough decision to make as I have seen many guys go into their motor once for cams, then a few months later go back in for 95 kit, then back in again for heads etc etc. I would go with all you can afford at once or save up and go whole HOG (pun) because if you get the bug you will go and go and go. It will be alot cheaper that way. I like my setup and would not change a thing. I do frequent long trips with no problems after 12000 miles on high compression big bore kit with modified SE heads, pistons, Woods TW6H cams and I put in the SE 6 speed. The only that is a pain is remembering the compression releases.

Good info guys, I agree with doing it all in one shot also, try to do it once corrrectly and be done. Any one know anything about one of the sponsors "Revolution Performance" They have a bolt on 98" kit and great warranty.

HD doesn't have a gear drive. You have to buy an S&S set of gears and then your choice of aftermarket cams for them. Nearly every cam maker offers a gear drive cam equal to their chain drive cam.

The tensioners wear out. Here's a set from an '02 Ultra with 20k on the clock.

I just got my bike back from the dealer yesterday where I had a big bore kit put in. I went with the 211 cams & am very pleased. I went with gear driven cams on my last Harley & thats the way to go if you plan to keep the bike. I plan to trade up in a year or two. Good luck with your mods.
