Around here, it's not really that great of an idea, unless you completely close it off and insulate it.

I thought about putting a space heater in mine for this winter since getting the bike. But have decided against it. All it will do is create a lot of condensation. I don't want the bike exposed to that so I'll just let it sit cold until I fire it up.

The closest I got to temperature control in my garage is a Hunter fan mounted to the ceiling joists. Living in central AZ, there typically isn't much need for heat. What we need, more often than not, is cooling...

Modine natural gas 45,000 BTU hanging furnace. 1,500 sq. ft garage. Does a great job. When I built it in 05 I put R50 in the roof and R30 in the walls. The steel man doors are R13 as is the overhead door.

I keep it at 65 which is the level that I can still work comfortably in a T-shirt.

I have a diesel heater. Plug er in and it's balmy in minutes. It's not heater full time. Only when I gotta fix something.

Mine is insulated. I use a salamander to heat it up fast. I will put a wood stove in some day when I get around to it. I only heat it when I work in it. Need an AC most of the year.

I have two kerosene heaters in my shop. I've had one of them for 25 years.

I maintain the shop at 40 degrees with an overhead electric heater. When I go work in the shop, I use a wood stove.
