So a got the response for reference for the military green color. See below. Looks pretty awesome in my opinion.



So the dilemma is that the helmet is non-DOT. Are there any comparable options that are DOT, or does it just not matter. I guess what I am asking is if a DOT helmet really is that much more protection than a headtrip.

I've got one of the original ACC helmets that I bought from a forum member; it's the polo style. Love it.

So the old ACC site used to state that their non-DOT helmets passed all the tests except for the spear penetration test. There is no mention on the headtrip or skullcrush site of which tests (if any) are passed by their helmets.

I doubt they go anywhere near the DOT cert again, that is what caused them issues before. They just advertise them as general helmets, or helmets for kayaking\rafting. As far as protection, not really sure, would assume it is as good as you will get with a "novelty lid", and it may even be better than some DOT lids. We all know the shell is made well. I saw a picture of one from a dude who came of at 65mph and ended up in a gravel drainage ditch. Helmet had damage but held together enough for the dude to post about it and ride again.

I actually ride more in my new FF Bell helmet now, but enjoy wearing the HeadTrip on a warm sunny day.

They are not DOT approved so they don't require any testing. They are what they are, like it or not.

I just purchased a Daytona DOT 1/2 helmet. It's light, but has a bit of a mushroom effect. Here in Georgia, the law is starting to enforce the DOT. I prefer to avoid the hassle, so I'm retiring my novelty helmets.
