Default HD Temp Gauge

Been running the HD Temp gauge, push button readout. Not crazy about it but it was a gift. Do these read out hotter than the actual temp, how accurate are they?

Are you referring to the Dip Stick Gauge? http://www.baggersmag.com/tech/0707_...k/viewall.html

Because you mention a "push-button" I assume you're referring to the dipstick gauge. I've had one in for three years now and feel that it's fairly accurate for both oil temp and level so far.

I have had one for two years and I like it. Much easier way to check the oil and as far as the temp, it is just good information to know.

I've had one for two years now, and it seems to report accurately on the oil temperature. Mine also seems to report just a bit low on the oil level.

I thought about getting one, but I know me and I'll get obsessed with always looking at the temperature. VTwins run hot and I"ve what I can do help with the heat. I already know that a stock TC runs around 240-260. One with a 10 row cooler runs 20-30 degrees cooler. That's all I want to know.....What I do know is I want to ride, so I'm climbing on my steed and putin a couple hundred miles on it before lunch......see ya

You can check the accuracy by putting it in boiling water, it should read about 212°F.

Thanks, will try the boiling water trick.... But I don't think I am far off. Run about 240-250 in the city on hot days. Appreciate the input!
