will stock pipes sound as loud as after market indue time?
I got 3,500 miles on my stock pipes and they sound like they got a little louder, I was wondering would they get as loud as Screaming Eagles or aftermarket slip-ons , after 10,000 or 20,000? Just Curious?

The short answer is not really. You stock pipes are much more restricted, therefore less noise & less air flow (performance). What will happen is that as the baffles wear the bike will get a little louder, but will never have the "Harley sound" with factory exhaust. They have to tame them down too much at the factory now. Get the Vance & Hines slip-ons with race baffles, a K&N filter and remap the EFI for the pipes and you are good to go. You will be setting off car alarms and terrorizing the populace before you know it. You will not regret it.

The short, short answer is No....Those steel innards simply won't wear out fast enough for most folks.

They will get "Pleasantly louder" as they age, but never really get to the point of an aftermarket pipe. Keep in mind though......aftermarket pipes go through the same transformation as they age. Also, exhaust on a modified engine is almost always louder than on a stock engine. Even a cam change will make a noticeable increase in sound.

all are very good answers just remember if you are going to add aftermarket pipes on your bike buy them before the new year as after Jan 1st new laws take effect that will severly affect your pipe mods and bike emmissions in all states

Majority of aftermarket pipes don't conform to the laws now.
In NY, any modification to the existing exhaust is illegal. I'll be damned if I keep these stock pipes on though.
So, I doubt by waiting until 07 it will change much.
