Pipes that are so loud, they're obnoxious.

Had straight pipes on Softtail when I bought it used. Even my brother would not ride with me.
Put on some Bubs and it got real mellow, but great sounding.
There is a difference between obnoxious and cool.

EGADS ?
One of my points was about granny and gramps getting their depends all-in-a-twist, and you throw out an "Egads" ?
Heavens to Betsy. I'll read the rest of your discourse. Yep. Count on it. In due time.
Meanwhile, I woke up and the sky hasn't fallen. Sorry to disappoint.

Funny, when I was 16, I had a 66 chevelle (loved that car!) and had some very loud pipes on it. I always hauled *** around the neighborhood, peeling out and being as loud as I could. It never occurred to me that I was annoying anyone... 'till they started calling the cops on me. You might find a few who wave, but the rest are stewing in their own juices mad.

I merely named conditions which are typical. I never said there is absolutely zero chance of someone hearing a bike. I pointed out the properties of sound that make it unlikely in most cases for loud pipes to be of any safety benefit. A mini beast 2 has the advantage of aiming the sound forward instead of rearward. It also has the advantage of sounding more like a Mack truck than an angry lilliputian.

I'm setting off car alarms with my softail...at first I thought I was hearing sirens but finally figured it out, and laughed out loud. I dig the sound and don't really want to give it up, but I'm considering changing pipes this winter (now running Bassani Pro-Streets with turned out ends). I believe that loudness is a plus when referring to safety, but I don't want to get shot at either...plus, I live in a 55 and older residential area where some of the old farts ain't too understanding. The old women have quit bringin' me cookies.
