Jackets as Gear vs Jackets as Fashion

RE: Jackets as Gear vs Jackets as Fashion
I quit leather and started wearing textile jackets because they are way more functional'
Black leather just don't cut it here in Florida. Might be fine in the morning when it 45 but by noon it's 75 and the sun is heating that leather up and you start cooking underneath.
Textile jackets have removable liners, many vents and you can get light colors. And did I mention they have armor?
Function over fashion for me.

No fashion jacket for me either. I only get to wear it for a few months out of the year and then only in the morning. But my jacket MUST stop cold from getting in and be ready to protect my skin should the worse happen. Fashion leather isn t going to do that.

Form or Function?
That's one of the best questions I've seen anywhere. You speak of Jackets, so I bring up Boots, gloves, pants, Armor, and in particular, Helmets.
Non DOT type skid lids, etc. What do you want your 'protective gear' to protect ? Your Image, or your Skull / Skin?
I vote for the latter, hands down. I don't want to steer you in any particular direction, but, just be careful out there.
SOMETHING is better than NOTHING.

Get both function and fashion ( motorcycle fashion) with a Harley FXRG. Wait to next August and go to Sturgis and get it for half price or negotiate with the dealer. I negotiate price on anything over $200 but I doubt if a dealer will give you 50% off on a FXRG but you never know until you try.

I'm also curious about whether or not most folks are emotionally wed to the idea that their jackets need to be bought at a Harley store vs some other brand.

I'll let the RUBs have their $500 pakistani HD® motorclothes.
