800-1,000 young bikers going to an event, & 1 gets run over on the side of the road by a truck, should have our support.

From what I read, it appears that they were more aggressive then just doing stunts. Taking over the entire road, forcing people off the road, speeds in excess of 100mph. Sounded like in some cases it just wasn't safe being on the road.

It's the annual Ride of the Century event also known as the "ROC". And I rode in it a couple of years ago when I still had a crotch rocket, it was just complete chaos. The year I rode it was raining for most of the trip so it kept most of the knuckle heads from stunting on the highway! I have many friends that stunt ride and I enjoy watching them do what they do in closed parking lot sessions. But when this ride is fair weather it is nothing but wheelies all over the place and it just makes it a very dangerous ride. I enjoy riding much more with a group of cruisers! I use to race my rocket at track days on the road course but never abused it on the public street. And I think the stunt groups should show the same respect, but it won't happen. But as to the number of bikes the article describes I believe it and it just gets bigger every year. Some of my friends still go to the ride, but it's not my style at all. I will stay clear of events like the ROC! I have too much on the line to be taken out by some numb nuts that wrecks while riding a wheelie and takes me down in the process....

Greetings,

It happens every year, it just so happens that they ended it in St. Charles instead of somewhere in the Fairview Heights, IL area. I remember not too long ago they used to end it at Victory Lane when they were in Dupo, IL. Yes, it's just a bunch of kids being stupid. Really a non-story and just some publicity for a Harley and metric dealership known for poor customer service and dealings. Just check with the Better Business Bureau.

that pretty well sums it up , there ain't no denying the skill some of theses kids have on those bikes, but not going down a interstate,or any public road.

Seriously? You go along with what transpired? If only it was as simple as
800-1,000 young bikers going to an event
but it was far more than that.
