Default I can't believe it... My headlight is a fish bowl!

I just had my Ultra in the shop last week for a Stater plug replacement. The plug fitting on the engine was leaking oil. Warranty work but they had it for three days. anyway, I just got back from Oklahoma with heavy off and on rain for the past two days and I noticed my headlight was burned out and I had about one inch of water in my headlight.
Now I ask myself do I make another appointment and drive it in so they can have it for another three days(warranty work) or drain and clean the headlight assembly and replace the bulb?

What is a good after market bulb I can buy from the auto parts store?

well if you do it yourself, finding why the water got in should be the first priority.

That will be my project for after work today. Take it off the fairing and fill it up with water and looks for the drips.

Sounds like a cool idea.
Any of the artists here ever tattoo a bar and shield on a gold fish?

WOW... you must have been in some real frog drowners! There are not too many places water can get into a modern lense. In fact, if you don't have a crack around the perimeter the only place to look is where the bulb plugs in and there is usually a rubber boot sealing it off.

I believe your bike takes an H4 bulb (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). There are many brands to choose from at the local auto parts store. JMO but I always choose the Wagner brand...but that's only because I work for the same corporation.

i would think that there is a vent at the bottom side of the lens facing down... the air inside the dome will expand while the light is on and the pressure would have to escape... same as when it is cooling down a vacume will be produced which could collapse the dome or crack it...

Once you figure out how the water got in and seal it, give the Silverstar Ultras a try. I recently got a set of 2 for $26 bucks on sale at Autozone. They are a lot better than stock but not as good as upgrading to a HID or LED setup. Make sure you get the twin pack and keep the spare in your bags, the Ultras don't have the life of the standard bulbs. I have never gotten more than a season on any Silverstar bulb.
