Recently attended a memorial service for cops and firemen who lost their lives in the course of duty at a MLB park. The ceremony concluded with about 100 motorcycles revving their loud engines on the field. Sounded very cool!!! Lots of people like Loud pipes.

All right, I'm feeling cranky today. I get so tired of buttheads crying about my pipes and whether they're too loud or too quiet as if it were any of their frigging business.
Why don't you go back home and wait by the phone. I'll call you for advice when I give a damn about your opinion.

There, I feel much better now.

This thread is funny. I just ordered quiet baffles for my V&H short shots. I hope that's ok with the OP!

One of the first things I did when I bought my Heritage was to put baffles back in the pipes. They were so friggin loud it hurt the ears. It is still loud and I like it but I don't think it is over the top.
I test rode 4 2012 HDs a few eeks ago. I commented at the time that they all sounded like Toyotas and would need new pipes as soon as I bought one. (I never did buy one - I'm keeping mine.)

Whoa, looks like I alerted the Granny Patrol. Guess I'll have to look on the Harley rumble like 60's music, a beautiful sound slowly disappearing from the landscape.(BTW if ya bought a Gibson Les Paul wouldn't you plug it into an amp once in a while. If ya would, why would you choke off the most beautiful voice on the road.)

loud pipes are a liability if you're hauling goods and have shelf-time.

The louder the pipes the shittier the sound IMO.

This pretty much says everything.

I run stock pipes. Get over it.
