Stock Dunlop VS ME880
Stock Dunlop VS ME880.
I really got tired of the rear wearing out every 4000 to 6000 miles. Shopped around, read forums. Finally decided on the ME880.
Got it installed and started riding.
I have almost 3000 miles on this tire. Riding city, county roads, and xways. I ride to work every day if it is not raining even if it is going to rain later on.
I WANT MY DUNLOP BACK
The rubber compound might be able to run more miles. But I have had to change my riding style drastically. First time I had to power brake I almost sh!! my pants.
Problems with the ME880 I didn't have with the Dunlop.
1. Braking Sucks!!!. This tire starts sliding way before the dunlop did.
2. Cornering is now not as fun. Again the dunlop hangs on better.
3. Wet pavement. AAARRRGGGHHH
Knowing my luck this dang tire will last 30,000 miles.
Anyone want to buy a 160/80 B 16 M/C 75H TL ME 880 MARATHON Cheap?

Wow! I just put the 880 on my Superglide and found the opposite. the Metzler seems to me a better ride it doesn't track the road snakes, and no problems in the turns

Strange thing about tire wear and different bikes. The rear ME880 on my 09 Dyna Low Rider was changed at 11,745 miles and the front ME880 was changed at 14,634. I could have squeezed more miles out of both of them but felt better safe than sorry. The Metzelers handling was superb compared to the stock Dunlops which I removed after only 2711 miles due to ill handling characteristics. I ride solo 100% or the time.
I run the tire pressure recommended by Metzeler which is 40# rear and 38# front. I check tire pressure at least once a week or more. If you're experiencing ill handling with the Metzeler I'd suspect tire pressure or something out of line.

I've been running ME880's since 2005. Much better traction, easier to carve in the turns, smoother over many surfaces, and my last rear ME880 (MT90B16) lasted over 8k. Just put on the ME880 MU85B16 this Sunday for my upcoming ride to Street Vibrations, and am certain that I will love this tire as well. I'll never run Dunlop's on my bike again!

dunlop vs metz
i have to agree with the majority here, ever since i switched to me880s my bike handles, corners and rides so much better than it did when i had the dunlops. i am now getting ready to do the switch over to me880s on my other bike
