Default Best places to ride in Las Vegas

My company is having our conference in Las Vegas this year. I've got a Street Glide rented for Oct 6 from Las Vegas Harley - hope it's a 2012 103.

Anyway, I've got one day of riding to enjoy. What's the best route to take for the day. I'm thinking Hoover Dam just to see it but I'd also like to ride out to Red Rock.

Of course, I'm wanting to avoid major freeways and would prefer 2 lane to 4.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Bryan

Whatever you do, do not ride into any of the casinos. They hate that crap.

Last time I was in Vegas was around 1990. But I remember renting a car and driving down to Laughlin. At the time I thought it would be a nice ride on a bike.

Also nearby is a small old west village that is interesting to walk thru.
Top of the hill on the way to Parhump is a popular biker bar hangout on the weekends.

Valley of fire is a nice ride, especially if you come in from the Hoover Dam side. Miles & miles of scenic two lane twisties. Speaking of Hoover dam, that is another popular destination. There is a guided tour to the inside/bottom of the Dam that is fascinating if you are into that sort of stuff.

Take a ride up to Mount Charleston, it's just north and up in elevation. Lots of tree's and scenery.

Either Hwy 95 over to Death Valley or head East to St. George and Zion. My option is not to go South. Have fun and ride hard.

I think I remember that happening in Laughlin once.

You have all day. Red Rock takes minutes if you ride like I do.

Plenty of time to see Red Rock and go to Hoover.
Take the Hard Hat Tour at hoover if they still have it.

For those of you that have been there lately, are the check points still going on at Hoover?
