This past April I rented a new Electra Glide Classic. I own two Dynas and IMHO there is a big ride difference between the two because of what the bike is designed for. The Classic was very comfortable, the six speed was great on freeways. The wife was real happy with it. I've had some real serious thoughts about trading one Dyna up to an EG Classic.

Ride quality? What are you talking about? The smoothness on the freeway or which one will get through the twistys better?
The touring bike will be better for touring and the dyna will be better in the twistys while still giving you a pretty decent ride on the freeway.
All depends on what type of riding you plan on doing

i have both. For me the dyna is for short blasts or riding solo, The road king is for long rides or two up. I like them both and it depends on my mood which Im riding that day.

The Dyna will ride like a motorcycle. The touring bike with windshield, stereo , etc. will be like driving a car.

I have owned Sportsters 883 and 1200. I was reaching some 300 plus miles on some good days on a one days out ride. Now with the FLHTC it goes twice as far with less physical effort. I like those long hauls. Some long rides includes using the interstates, fast traffic and not so good roads. Its just getting to those places requires parts of the unforeseen roads less liked. Better on a touring bike.

Had a 2006 Low Rider. Now own a 2007 Heritage classic. The low rider was a TC88 and the Heritage is a TC96.
The Heritage has more torque. The larger tire on the front of the Heritage makes it more stable I think. The ride on the Softail is better than the Low Rider.
I had no problem on long rides with The Low Rider. But now that I have the Heritage I like it a lot better.
Rent each one for a day. Take a day trip. Then make your mind up.

Have owned 5 Dynas & 3 RoadKings (only tourer I like) The Dynas were very crowded 2 up, but were fun to ride & quick.
Dyna= Corvette
RoadKing= Caddy
Do NOT like the ride of fuel injected Dynas. The low speed (below 40mph) "surge" is unacceptable. The EFI RoadKings have it, but it isn't as distracting 'cause the weight of the bike seems to smooth it out.
