I used to be of this opinion. But it's not true. My Road King still rides like a motorcycle. Just a more comfortable motorcycle. If you want a two wheeled car, try a Gold Wing.

Had a Dyna Street Bob and now have a Road Glide. Wish I had both!

I've got a wide glide and electraglide classic. They both ride differently. Get both!

It's not even close, once you spend some time on a touring bike 09+. You will never want to ride anything else again.

+1 Agree with that, so much so I just picked up a 2010 RG Custom. The touring platform is real stable. The dyna by comparison is light and nimble. You can throw both around, but if you plan on lots of interstate, the touring bike is the way to go, and if you ride mostly one up and twisties, the dyna excels. Either bike can do it all, but as you'd expect each is best suited for what they were designed and built for.

Touring bike carry a lot of stuff and keep the wind off of you, but otherwise I can't see much point. I test-rode an Ultra/Limited the other day, just because it was demo day. Seemed like a mini-van for short people (old, short people). Every time I tried to put my feet up, I'd hit those knee-high footboards at about my ankle and it was so quiet I'd never have known to shift if I hadn't seen the tach. It was a relief to get back on my softail. I'm in no hurry to get one - a Road King, maybe, but none of those other touring bikes.

I'd prefer the dyna if there were no softails.

Sorry I can't help you. I've always had FL's since the 60's. I love the touring line. You will have to try them both out and see which one you like.

My first Harley was a 1200C and I had it about a year. It was a great bike and super quick but I made the mistake of riding a Deluxe once and that was it for me. Ended up buying a brand new Heritage and have never looked back.

I really didn't care for the look of the big touring bikes, just a personal opinion and I can carry almost as much stuff in my Heritage if needed.

Had 3 Dyna's,a Sporty,A Heritage and now my Glide! For an all around bike,I would go Dyna! If you do long rides, get a touring! You also have to factor in your age There are days,I wish I had another Dyna! I should have put a backrest on a Dyna and called it good!
