Hey 85FXWG, I already posted this pic earlier in this thread.
Would you work your magic on this photo also?
If you need a larger version, let me know.
Thanks, Rick

Very nice image gambler. Really like those old sportys, a real hi po machine.

Is that a Triumph TT bike in the back??

mud

Not sure if it is a TT or not. That belonged to one of the guys I rode with. This pic was taken back in 1973, so it probably is a 71 or newer as someone has said.

Dad. Foggia, Italy-1945

...and after New Years, '46. Still in Foggia. Enlisted at 17, sent for gunnery school-Ft. Myers, applied for pilot training and was accepted and qualified on single and multi-engine....but it was very late in the war and he wasn't needed in that role.

Foggia, Italy however, had serious problems with the food supply (syndicate black market dipped in, most people were on sub-subsistance rations well under 1,000 calories/day). Dad was stepped up to a Sr. NCO slot as a corporal (much as myself two wars later) and put in charge of an MP detachment to reign in the black market and stop the riots (which was a major problem, especially in the south).

Since he was Army Air Corps, there were guys around who did the "nose art" thing and this was given to him in early '46 for legendary exploits among the civilian population. My mom was not very fond of this picture, but both are gone now, so what the heck.....

It is interesting to spend a minute looking at these old pics. Notice there is a chrome screw missing on the fender strut close to the top of the shock. Also, look at the bottom front of the frame and you can just make out a padlock hanging on a length of chain wrapped around the lower engine mounts. That was to lock the bike when parked in any questionable areas. Also, this was the last year of the true Buckhorn handlebars, which had the old dead man's throttle. This consisted of a cable internal to the handlebars with no return spring. When you twist the throttle grip, it would pull the cable which was directly attached to the carb. Twist the other way and it goes back to idle. Great for cruising, like cruise control. In 1973 they (AMF) went to the dual cable external throttle linkage with a return spring. Funny the things you notice and start remembering. The first thing I did when I bought this bike new in 1972 was put straight pipes on and re-jet the carb. Those were the bad-a$$ bikes of the day. Great times.

The street is washed out in the original photo. There is no chance of recovering the detail of the street in the washed out background. I think you can get a good print from the post processed image.
