RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
We had a camper & RV show here in Michigan last month, so we went tire kicking. We decided we wanted to travel around, with the bikes, and camp. Having a family, and dogs, this isn't possible with the bikes alone. So a trailer would be needed.
Now, before I became unemployed 2 weeks ago, I was going to look into a KZ-RV Sportster 32PSD. If you notice with most of the KZ line, the bike area is seperated by a wall & door from the living quarters. I do not like the ones where it is all one area. I don't want to be smelling gas & whatever elze when trying to sleep.
The Motorhome vs. Travel Trailer question. It is a financial position that seems to me would make the decision, and practicality. If you have the $$$, then a Diesel Pusher RV with a cargo trailer is fine. But let's say you end up somewhere to stay, and it poors down rain and/or storms for 3 days. If you want to go somewhere to get out, what are you going to use to get there? The bikes?
I shopped a lot of trailers at that show, most of the dealers brought more than 1 "Toy Hauler" trailer, and this is the brand I likes the most.

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
A third option. We live full time in our RV and tow our bike and Jeep using a "Tandem Tow Dolly". Since the first photo was taken I've added a cover to the dolly that covers the bike, like a boat cover that folds forward to load/unload.

PIMAXX......
How do you like the 23ft model?
Does the scoot fit straight in? I've herd it has to be turned side ways?
I have an 05 F-150 w/5.4 and tow package, is this enough truck?
I love your Toy Hauler, I am looking at the same model. Any pro's and con's with your purchase?
Thanks in advance.

P.S. Where did you buy from? Would you recomend them?

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
Tex, I pick it up on Friday. I also have a F-150 4x4 offroad pickup with a 5.4. The dealer said it was more than enough for the trailer. The Outback is a aluminum frame trailer. The 23ft weighs only 4790 dry. The 28ft weighs 5685. I called over 6 different dealers in Texas and Oklahoma. The best price and deal was at Lewis RV in Oklahoma City. If you do contact them just ask for Artie. Let him Know Eric Kuhns sent you. There number is 405-232-1800. There was one dealer in Texas that had a good price. I think it was in Clarmore? South of FtWorth. Now is the time to buy because they want to get rid of the 2006 models.
As for the bike fitting, It will fit fine as long as the bike isn't more than 8 ft long.

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
I use a 32' motorhome with a 14' enclosed bike trailer, I can get 2 bikes and all our gear in the trailer. If we need a car also my wife follows me in the car.

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
Since My wife and I have always enjoyed camping, the ToyHauler was just a natural progression. We have travelled all over the east coast as far as Laconia NH for Bike Week. Much better than a motel. Your own bed, kitchen, bathroom....Hard to beat. I have a "Work & Play" model 28BR... Anybody interested in Towhaulers should check out www.trailerlife.com forums. They have one dedicated to Toyhaulers.

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
I plan to retire March of next year.
This is what I have....
Not quite as convienent as a toyhauler, but I like having the full 28' of trailer to stay in.
Just load the bike in the bed of the dually, hook up the TT and awaaaay we go!

RE: RV/Trailer's or Toy Haulers???
Wife and I took off for 4 years in 1991 with a 36' motorhome. As nice as it was, we realize with hindsight we could have done with alot less.
I would go with about a 32' motorhome and a Wells Cargo trailer for the bike.
No matter what type of R.V. you get, there's a little compromise in all of them. Whatever you do, it's a neat life and I'm sure you will have fun.
