Last time in Sturgis stayed in Rapid City; this time want to be closer with a shuttle available; Best Western in Sturgis isn't taking reservations yet; any recomendations in Deadwood? I believe there's a shuttle from Deadwood into Sturgis after hours....wanna party a bit but not have to ride home...

If you really want to party and not have to worry about the "ride back" stay at one of the Campgrounds ... Glencoe, Buffalo Chip, etc .... rates are great and the party ... well ... the party never ends. You might only do it once but you sure never will forget the experience. Oh ya, bring some ear plugs and a camera too!

I second going the camping route. Closer to the action and much cheaper. As far as hotel's in Deadwood, there are only a few so it would be easy enough going on line and seeing if you can get a reservation. I know some places allow repeat customers to reserve a room for the next year when checking out.

Yes! Went to Sturgis this year one week before the "official" start. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Sturgis for $108.00 a night. The rate went to over $375.00 a night the day I checked out (4 days later).

We've been the last 4 yrs during the week before. Stayed in Deadwood @ Deadwood Gulch. Paid $ 108-$118/ night. Nice place on the west side of Deadwood. We make our reservations in January.
There's a shuttle around Deadwood that picks up at all of the hotels and circles thru downtown Deadwood. Nice ride to dinner & downtown casinos & back. Hadn't ever heard about a shuttle to/from Sturgis.
We ride all day, and create our own drinking party at night. Meet a lot of nice people from around the country right there at our hotel parking lot. Just pull up a chair and have a drink! Not really into the late night partying in Sturgis.
Just my 2 cents.
