All that I'm saing is that a well maintained harley can be quiet reliable. At least mine is. I'm not trying to get in a pissing match either but I got no problem hopping on my bike and going for a 1000 mile ride. Sure Ive had my issues with it in stock form but with some mechanical upgrades she will roll into the 6 figures in a month or too with no prob and its a 96" twin cam. But I wouldnt take the Triumph outside the county.

I'd let them go on their own or don't ride with them

That is the problem that keeps me from riding with groups. I ride at the limit to 5 over which with the HD speedometer is probably just over the limit by a mile or two.

The fun goes out the door with excessive speed. I just fall back and let them go.

I typically run 5-10mph over on the freeway.
One of the weirdest run ins I've had with fast riders was coming home from work. I was running about 75mph and these guys stayed with me for a little bit and then took off doing close to 100mph for a mile or 2 then let off and ran slow until I caught up to them while I was still running 75. They kept doing that until I got off at my exit.

I have never gone faster than about 95 on a Harley... (Don't ask how fast I went on my Yamaha XSEleven!)

As with most of you I prefer to cruise at 5 to 10 over. 55 - 60 on back roads and 70 - 75 on the highway...

Now that I have my stage 1 I do expect to break 100 (Just for a second) one of these days....

I like to hammer down at times. I've had my ST over 120 before (don't know how fast as the speedo stops at 120) but did it quick on an empy open highway. When I get around cages especially, I ride more defensively, but in my truck I usually run -5 to +10 depending on how I feel. On the bike, I like to cruise around 70-80, so that's where it varies. In NC there are 55mph roads, and if it's open, I cruise at 70 and if the limit is 65 I usually cruise at 70...

Like I said, I keep my distance from cages, and adjust my speed according to what's going on around me, but I also like to let loose every once in a while.

I ride to enjoy the scenery. Can't do that at high speeds.

If your uncomfortable with it why would you run with them? I'm one of the 5 to 15 mph over guys, but if I'm riding with someone or a bunch & I'm not good with how they ride- Fast or slow I'm either going to be there when they get there or when I get there. Normally a good way to get hurt - riding out of your comfort zone.?
