There was a time, (still is a time for some of us) when guys wrenched on their own sleds, in the event you needed help there were a ton of good friends around that would be first in line to help you wrench on your ride. In the event you had to go to a shop with a problem (wasn't likely but it happened) the guys at the shop lived worked and breathed motorcycles. There was also a time when if a guy did something like what you are describing to your sled, one or maybe two guys would take a crowbar and a wrench to the guy and the next day his shop would be a club house or burned to the ground. He knew not to get the cops involved, not because of fear but because he knew he was in the wrong. This type of thing made enough of an impression that it was very rare any one had problems with shops. I believe the changes started coming with more weekend warriors buying bikes. The same guys who live sleep and breath motorcycles saw that the citizens were not going to stand up and grab their ***** and do anything, so they can do what they want. No one is keeping my bike for two months much less six. You don't need a lawyer you need a baseball bat and some ***** ......
