Guess I am just not cool anymore. I have several Willie G things on my 1999 Sportster and I am adding Willie G covers and floorboards to my 2008 Ultra as we speak.

Yeah. I have the arlen ness big sucker set up on my fl There's a bracket that the cover mounts to. Noway you can squash the filter tightening the insert down. Have the Ride to Live one on the lowrider, same way.

I have the #1 unit on mine. There is a star shaped adapter that bolts thru the center of the filter then the cover screws to that. Wish they made a red, white and blue #1 set- derby, point, and air cleaner. Buy that in a heartbeat.

Do one of you guys have any how-to tips on making use of my Willie G cover in that way. I have one on my football and like the look of that open air cleaner. What do you do with your breathers? What did you use for a backing plate? Or is this a completely different kit?

It looks like it is stressing your air cleaner element pleats a little?
No; many of the stage 1 filters are made that way--the cover bolt only goes through the front plate of the air filter, so no matter how much you tighten it, it won't compress the filter. You may, however, damage the filter if you tighten the 3 Torx head screws that hold the filter to the backing plate too much.
and that thing is so not cool anymore
I think WG Bob is kinda right-- IMHO, Wille G skulls are kinda like "Live to Ride" stuff--cool back in the day, but kinda hokey now.
